the spikes are reminiscient of a car in the film Death Race 2000 -- Last edit: 2006-09-24 00:16:19
although they only have 6-cylinder engines, they are surprisingly fast
based on a valiant, but that is the 2-dr version
strangely enough, this car looks a bit like a Pontiac Solstice
did you know that Eric Morecambe owned and once had a heart attack in one of these, and the guy who drove him to hospital in it kept asking him questions about the car while Morecambe was in agony. Useless bit of trivia there.
yeh man | ||
good shot | ||
where the hell was this?
and I thought they were just the credits
If the "Sabre" is a 1970 Buick Skylark, then the equivilent of this "Sabre Turbo" would be a hot version of the Skylark called a GS The stripe could indicate that it is like a GSX (see the special car in the Chicago part of Driver 2), however to my knowledge, this colour scheme was not available on the GSX yet, of course, this rule could be broken in GTA. The name "Sabre Turbo" would suggest some sort of forced induction. As far as the Buick GS is concerned, Ram Air was available (as the only prominent turbocharged car at that point had been the Corvair). NB the Skylark, GS, GS Stage 1 and GSX were competent car, but is not as well remembered as its GM A-body siblings. GM forced air induction was as follows: Ram Air (Pontiac GTO), Cowl Induction (Chevrolet Chevelle SS), W-30 (Oldsmobile Cutlass S/4-4-2). -- Last edit: 2006-10-28 19:16:55
it looks more like a 7-series than a 5-series
There was a car called a Buick Le Sabre, and the Chevelle shared its shape with the Buick Skylark. This would be a 1970/71 Skylark
never knew the identity this one, but it looked really authorititive -- Last edit: 2006-09-23 22:28:44
From the front, it looks like a mid-sixties Studebaker www.studebakerracing.com/aust652L.jpg
the stacked indicators and sidelights and the contours of the bonnet would suggest a Rover P6 - a car used by the police throughout 1970s Britain

the AMC feel is there - like a Hornet hatchback, though the front is like an early-mid sixties Ford Fairlane All the other cars are clearly AMC Pacers
The nearest you can get with that is a Pontiac Firebird or a Chevy Camaro (must be lesser models) - not accurate, but the essence of these two cars has definately been captured
front is definately a Ford LTD ned.ronet.ru/0/1972%20Ford%20LTD.jpg
perhaps a Ford Torino nose
the bumper and lower grille would suggest a 1967 Chevy Impala
however, I thought there was a riviera with such an arrangement of lights
The front of 1968 Oldsmobile Cutlass (look at the lights) mclellansautomotive.com/photos/B12303.jpg However, the is a flavour of a 1972 Buick Skylark (the Cutlass' sibling) in the deeper grille images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www.buickstreet.com/images/johns72gs3qtrfrontrighthigh.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.buickstreet.com/72buickstreet.html&h=480&w=640&sz=73&hl=en&start=5&tbnid=FeYXGn1dReA5QM:&tbnh=103&tbnw=137&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dbuick%2Bskylark%2B1972%26svnum%3D10%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D or more probably a 1971-1973 Buick Riviera; I'd say a 1972 images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www.greenboattail.nl/images/Dif72front.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.greenboattail.nl/differences.htm&h=480&w=640&sz=191&hl=en&start=1&tbnid=5nBe3PU_lsnYWM:&tbnh=103&tbnw=137&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dbuick%2Briviera%2B1972%2Bfront%26svnum%3D10%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D
no doubt about it - it is intended to be a Trans Am. If the nose was to be slanted, then it would look like a '75. It could do without the 70-73 Camaro tail lights and the scoops wouldn't even look right on a Firebird Formula, so they would have to be replaced by a shaker.
damn - Ive seen one of those before - Italian, probably Fiat - it has very shiny silver rectangular door handles and has subtle styling. Quite luxurious - top of the range, around 1989-1991?
I would say a Mercury Monarch
definately a fiat - maybe a Strada or a Ritmo
for a second it looked like a Peugeot 504 cabriolet
I second that - looks like a Riv' |
